Why go

The Urungach Lakes are known for jade-coloured water and mountain views. Uzbekistan’s official tourism portal places them in Ugam-Chatkal National Park. This is a trip for scenery, quiet and walking. Conditions change with the season, so recent trail and weather information matters more than an old photograph.

Ask about the walk

Before joining, ask which lake the group plans to visit, how long the walking section takes, whether there are climbs and what pace to expect. Check where the trail begins, where transport stops and what happens in bad weather. The lower and upper lakes make for different day plans; moving between them takes extra time. Tell the organiser if mountain walks are new to you.

What to bring

Bring comfortable shoes with grip, water, sun protection and a wind layer. Carry personal medication and a phone charger. Confirm a route-specific packing list against the forecast. Do not assume swimming is part of the day: water conditions and protected-area rules need separate checks. Send us your preferred dates and walking experience to discuss a suitable option.
